Meet Our Tree of Life Staff!
Hi, I'm Shawna Clark and I have been working in Early Childhood Education for fourteen years. I just recently received my Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from Tallahassee Community College. After graduating from Bayshore High I knew I wanted to work with young children. I attended Tallahassee Community College online, as I have two children at home.
Before becoming a Preschool Director, my favorite age to teach was one year olds. There is something special about that age that brings joy into my career.
In my free time I love to read. My all-time favorite thing to do with my free time is to spend it with my family.
I look forward to assisting families and getting to know everyone who is part of Trinity Lutheran Church and Tree of Life Preschool.
Barbara Ellis, Teacher of 3 Year Olds
Hi, I'm Barbara Ellis. I'm the 2 year old teacher at the Tree of Life. I've been working here since 1996. I'm originally from Par Ridge, New Jersey, and I've lived here in Florida for going on twenty years now. After graduating high school I worked as a secretary for five years, then raised my family. Then from 1971-1996 I worked as an Assistant Teacher working with Special Needs children, also teaching basic skills from grades Pre-K to sixth grade. During that time I also enjoyed volunteering for Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, schools and parenting groups, and the Elks and Womens' clubs.
In my free time I love to cook, help out with Vacation Bible School at Trinity, and work with children of all ages. Working at Tree of Life is wonderful. I love the children and everyone here at the preschool, as well as everyone in Trinity's family.
Alexandra Foor, Teacher of Infants and Toddlers
In my free time I love to read books, watch movies and hang out with my family. I look forward to working with the family here at Tree of Life!
Sarah Runge, Teacher of 2 Year Olds
I am Sarah Runge and I am 21 years old. I was born in Memphis, Tennessee and moved to Sarasota in 1995. I graduated from Lakewood Ranch High School in 2009 and then moved to Akron, Ohio to go to the University of Akron. I was there for two years before the brutal winters got to me and I moved back home.
After moving home, I enrolled at the University of South Florida for Hospitality and Tourism Management. I just received my Bachelors degree for Hospitality and although I love the travel industry, it just wasn’t for me. I have worked with children since I was 14 between babysitting, nannying and other miscellaneous child care jobs. I realized that childcare is a field that genuinely makes me happy and everyday is a new adventure. I am now enrolled at Sarasota Technical Institute working towards my CDA.
I look forward to spending more time with and learning about our Tree of Life families.
Heather Scheible, VPK Lead Teacher
Hi, I'm Heather Scheible. I've been on staff since 1990. I'm originally from Ohio and moved to Bradenton in 1986. I graduated from the South College of Florida with my associates degree.
Something that people might not know is that people say my mother and I look, act, and sound alike. It used to drive me nuts, now I love hearing that! In my spare time I love to read and usually have at least three books going at the same time.
I love the atmosphere of a small preschool with a Christian focus. Trinity's members are a warm and loving group of people!
