Meet Our Tree of Life Staff!
Shawna Clark, Director
Hi, I'm Shawna Clark and I have been working in Early Childhood Education for fourteen years. I just recently received my Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from Tallahassee Community College. After graduating from Bayshore High I knew I wanted to work with young children. I attended Tallahassee Community College online, as I have two children at home.
Before becoming a Preschool Director, my favorite age to teach was one year olds. There is something special about that age that brings joy into my career.
In my free time I love to read. My all-time favorite thing to do with my free time is to spend it with my family.
I enjoy assisting families and being part of Trinity Lutheran Church and Tree of Life Preschool.
Hi! My name is Karen Cobb. I am the infant teacher at Tree of Life. I have been a preschool teacher since October 2009.
I moved to Florida in August of 2009 and was enamored with my son's VPK class - so much so that I joined the team there and became an infant teacher at his school. Since joining Tree of Life, I have enjoyed watching my class meet many milestones such as first foods, first steps, the Army crawl, and pulling up to stand. I am looking forward to many more firsts!
Barbara Ellis, Teacher of 1 and 2 Year Olds
Hi, I'm Barbara Ellis. I've been the two year old teacher and the three year old teacher at the Tree of Life. I've been working here since 1996, retired from fulltime teaching in June of 2013 and have returned to enjoy the two year olds again! I'm originally from Par Ridge, New Jersey, and I've lived here in Florida for twenty years. After graduating high school I worked as a secretary for five years, then raised my family. Then from 1971-1996 I worked as an Assistant Teacher working with Special Needs children, also teaching basic skills from grades Pre-K to sixth grade. During that time I also enjoyed volunteering for Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, schools and parenting groups, and the Elks and Womens' clubs.
In my free time I love to cook, help out with Vacation Bible School at Trinity, and work with children of all ages. Working at Tree of Life is wonderful. I love the children and everyone here at the preschool, as well as everyone in Trinity's family.
Jessica Smith, Teacher of 3 Year Olds
Hi, I'm Jessica! I've been working in preschools since I was 17 and took an early childcare class at South East High School.I knew then I would love working with children. A stay-at-home mom for my two children for 5 years, I enrolled my son in Tree of Life's VPK class. When I picked him up one day I learned about a job opening there applied, was qualified and was hired. I was so happy and ready to be back working, and having my children there with me!
In my free time I spend time with my family. We (my husband and I) love to be outside with our children. I also love reading.
I love being part of the Tree of Life family. The staff, children and parents are all wonderful to be around.
Heather Scheible, VPK Lead Teacher
Hi, I'm Heather Scheible. I've been on staff since 1990. I'm originally from Ohio and moved to Bradenton in 1986. I graduated from the South College of Florida with my associates degree.
Something that people might not know is that people say my mother and I look, act, and sound alike. It used to drive me nuts, now I love hearing that! In my spare time I love to read and usually have at least three books going at the same time.
I love the atmosphere of a small preschool with a Christian focus. Trinity's members are a warm and loving group of people!
